5 "They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;"
6 "They have ears, but cannot hear, noses but they cannot smell;"
7 "They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats."
So I don't know how to exactly put this into words, but I'll try.
Basically the verses are talking about those who believe in false idols and praise them like they are real Gods. Since, they don't know God, they aren't able to truly speak, see, hear, smell, or feel the amazing and merciful love God gives us. We're really lucky to be able to experience being a child of the Lord.
That is it!
See you guys Saturday~

hey all!! hooray! internets back! Very Happy
okay so like Sarah I found verses 5-7 very important and it really stuck out to me.
there is only one God but people don't seem to understand that and worship wrong so called beings. what is the point of having body parts that God has blessed you with when you can't use them to serve Him? in everything you do, you can worship God but not everyone seems to understand that. people that do not worship God are like handicapped people that can't roam around as freely as those without disabilities. they aren't as fortunate as us being loved by God and protected by Him everyday.
alrighty see you all Saturday!

4 Their idols are merely things of silver and gold,
    shaped by human hands.
This verse stuck out to me because we think that things made of gold and silver are so precious, when they are made from human hands. Humans are sinners and faulted so the things we make must be faulted even more! That sentence sounded really dumb just now but it made better sense in my head okay?! LOL I dunno! I guess it just highlights how dumb we humans can be because we are worshipping things like money and materialistic things that are on a level lower than we are, when we can be worshiping something that is entirely perfect and good Razz
I think that this is something good to remember when we get sucked into the materialistic aspects of our lives aha

4: But their idols are silver and gold,
made by the hands of men.

Relating back to Dan's sermon, this verse sticks out to me so well.
It's insane, when we think upon what we worship.
I just shut my eyes and saw everything I was doing wrong.
Saying that we shouldn't put God before anything else is easier said than done.
Its so hard to resist turning away.
What a gift God gives us, never leaving us.
It's only us that's turning away in a relationship.
Imagine if someone you loved just kept on loving you no matter what, no matter how many times you turn your back on them.
The beauty of God's grace, it's so unfair for Him.
Seems like a one-way relationship sometimes...
As God strives to bring us closer, while we squirm away from His arms.

4-7
"but their idols are silver and gold., made by the hands of
men. They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see; they have ears but cannot hear, noses but they cannot smell......"

"their idols are silver and gold....."
that's my favourite part of the verse. But I think the rest of the verse is important as well.
We get distracted from other things and put it infront of what is really necessary to us. Like in this weeks service, we do worship many other things than God. One of the the most ovbious idol is money.

"mouths but cannot speak....."
We're so lost without God beside us. We have ears and mouths but we hear and say the wrong thing. It's like in another verse somewhere in the bible.....it says something like: If you have sinned with your mouth, cut it off.
As Christians, we must not do the wrong things as a rolemodel for others. God made out mouths, ears and everything else for good purposes like spreading the word, not for the sake of other things.

That is all!
Verse 2: "not to us, but to your name be the glory."

Verse 6
"They have ears but they hear not, noeses have they, but they smell now"7

i can relate to this to our lives because we have our mouths, but we do not say the right things. We have ears but we dont pay attention to the right details. We may have hands to do things but we do the wrong thigns with them. God gave us a choice from the start because he is fair and just. We should use the gifts he gave us for good and not for our own self-centered reasons.

5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.

6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.

7 They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.

8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.

This verse reminded me of how much life we have in God, and how little we have in other things. Like Dan said on Sunday, we're all worshippers, but it's just a question of what we worship. I thought this verse was appropriate to that message because now this verse is also saying that when we don't have anything worthwhile in things besides God. The verse itself is self explanatory, even as a metaphor for things that dont have hands and such, but I thought of it as a very powerful one. We don't find the same joy and breath of life in anything else but God. Living by God's word and his love is so much rewarding than money or sex and such, and though the material goods may feel like treasure here, our treasure is in heaven.

1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.

As a praise team, playing up on stage has NEVER been about us
I personally do NOT like how our stage is set up, because it seems so showy.
Always be humble, and remember that we're not more SET APART than anyone else in the ministry.
We do have to spend a little more time to ourselves simply because of practice. but remember, we're ALL EM-HI C.
It's always been about lifting up God's name, and it always will be!

We can't worship false idols.
We can't worship something we made because if we do, we are, essentially, worshiping ourselves.

8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.

Before this, there's a bunch of "eyes, but cannot see" "ears, but cannot hear", etc.
and so, I thought this verse was interesting.
Well it obviously doesn't mean what it says literally, but in a spiritual sense.

If you believe in false idols, you won't be able to see god, hear god, etc.

We've been hearing about this a lot and there must be a reason for it. But honestly, it's probably much harder than it seems because we all worship something we shouldn't, whether it be technology, relationships, popularity, blahblahblah. The list goes on.
But it's good that we're getting it drilled into our heads.
Let's keep our God, the only God in our lives, shall we?
