Psalm 113 August 6

Really short and simple message today! I didn't get much out of it.

Sometimes its tough finding something, I think if you reflect upon it long enough, you should be able to pull out something

7: He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
This verse really gave me an image of God stretching down to grab our hand.
He looks over us, just like our parents do.
He IS our father, after all.

Its sometimes so hard, one of the biggest things that I struggle with is throwing everything up to God.
Like I know that things WILL turn out for the better, I know He'll be with us every step of the way.
But a part of me insists on seeing what the outcome would be.
When worse comes to worst, I feel like a pawn in a chess game.
Being used for His own glory, not knowing what I'm walking through.
But I know, I just know that everything will fall into place.

This was a pretty short chapter but what i got from this passage was that God is able to change the worst case scenarios into a bright happy scene.

Verse 7
"He raiseh up the poor out of the dust and lifeth the needy out of the dunghill"

God is able to change our lives in an instant and we should really think upon our actions.

"the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is exalted over all the nations, hois glory above the heavens."

This verse reminds me of how much God's name deserves to be praised. God apprciates it when we take the time to thank him. Although we may sometimes think that it's not necessary to do this but don't you feel good when someone says good job to you after you have done someting good?

I didn't get much from today's chapter in depth because the message was fairly simple. Simple, yet not unimportant, so I'll always try to remember how great God is at all times.

Basically.. what i got was "praise the Lord"
thats it.
Do it whole heartedly and not because you're forced to.
you guys made a choice to join the praise team and praising God to the fullest is our duty!

7 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;

8 he seats them with princes,
with the princes of their people.

9 He settles the barren woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.


These are all great examples of God putting people in positions that they would never imagine themselves in
Poor people with the rich?
Infertile women with children?
God blesses us with things we would never be able to begin to imagine, he does such amazing things for us.

4 For the Lord is high above the nations;
    his glory is higher than the heavens.
This verse kind of opened my eyes. Because it says that god is higher tha the nations, which I know, but it goes on to say that his glory is higher than the heavens. This made me realize that even when we get to heaven, yes, we will constantly be in gods presence, but he will still be sooooo much higher than us. We always think of heaven to be the highest place, but this verse to me created a third level in my mind. This level is where god can only exist! So I think that by remembering this verse will humble me and help me remember my place in gods eyes!

1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, you his servants;
praise the name of the Lord.

I think a lot of people would skim over this first verse because it's basically the same thing said again and again. But there's something there that I hope you guys caught.
We're specifically called his servants.
And with the sermons Dan has been giving about worship, it sticks out like a blinking sign, in this chapter.

Never forget what God can, and has done for us. How we can never even begin to repay him. But we can try.
Just be humble and do his work. That's all he wants.
