Sept 13 Empty Sept 13

Matthew 22:34-40
34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again.
35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question:
36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

If your life were a television show, what would it be like? Friends? Baywatch? My So-Called Life? The Brady Bunch? Or maybe 3rd Rock from the Sun? If your life had a theme song, what would it be titled? Maybe something like "Insensitive"? Or "Jealousy"? Or maybe "The Great Adventure"? How about "I Get By with a Little Help from My Friends"? Or "Nobody Loves Me But My Mother (and She Could Be Jivin' Too)"? If your life were a cable TV channel, would it be more like the Disney Channel, MTV, the Sports Channel, the Comedy Channel, or the boring Documentary Channel? While it may be fun to come up with answers to those questions, the answers are probably not particularly revealing. But you know what? If Jesus' life were a television show, it could have only one title-Love. If a hit song were written about his life, it would be called "Love." In fact, if his life were a tennis game, every point would be love. Jesus commanded us to love. He said, A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:34-35, NIV). Jesus commanded us to love because he values love. The single greatest characteristic of Jesus' life, his most important theme, the center of everything he did and said, was love. He left heaven because of love. He became a man because of love. He went around doing good because of love. He even died and was resurrected because of love. Jesus' words and life made it clear that love is always right. It is right for all people, for all places, and for all times. It is right not only because he commands love and values love, but also because he ultimately is love. Love is a part of his nature and character as God (1 John 4:8, 16). When we love others, even our enemies, we are "acting as true children of [our] Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:45).

REFLECT: The paragraphs above refer to the three "steps" in discerning right from wrong (precept, principle, Person). Look back over today's reading and identify the precept, the principle, and the person.

ACT: The next time you hear a television theme song, remember the theme of Jesus' life: love.

PRAY: "Father, I want to love you as your Son, Jesus, has commanded me to do. I want to love the people around me, too. This week help me to show love to..."

ctv came to our school cuz of the teacher protesting thing...our school now might not have extra curriculars like sports teams and dances! Sad people skipped cuz they would be on tv and stuff like that...what rebels Razz
anyways! another uber important message! Jesus had always been a man of love. he always looked passed everyone's bad side and loved them with his full heart. he commanded us to love one another as he had loved us. we are commanded to love the Lord our God, with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, but we are also told to love our neighbours. I remember at the retreat, Pastor Kye said that Jesus's first rule to all Christians were to love our Lord and love our neughbours. He said both because they are equally important. what makes up the cross is our vertical relationship with God and our horizontal relationship with our neighbours. loving our God and neighbours is CRUCIAL to Christianity.
alrighty! see you all saturday! i'm so happy that we are playing the planned set for last week cuz i practiced my fingers off!..well that WAS last week so yeah...aha Very Happy byee!

i've been hearing a lot of this passage lately, from the retreat, to back at church, to bible studies, and now this.

Since so much has been said about it already, not much else can be. We all know that both commands are just as important as each other when Jesus said them. He wouldn't have said them together otherwise. So when we are striving to be like Jesus, we are not just trying to act kind or be sympathetic, but to become love. We can't have grudges or arguments with people and at the same time try and be like Him. There was a quote: you can not simultaneously prepare for war and plan for piece, and even though contexts are different, I think the situations are similar. We build up our pride and make names for ourselves and we put others down and do all sorts of unholy things. Meanwhile, we do devo's every night saying that we are attempting to be more like God. Like Daniel spoke about, we get to be like God by taking small steps. No 180 degree turnarounds. All the little things like the pent up anger and hate we have for others needs to go away. And though it may seem difficult and seems insignificant, it will be one of the biggest small steps you'll ever take.

I feel that this was like a repeat or a continuation of yesterdays devo......
I'll try not to repeat myself.....

Some people get the wrong idea and think that they should do everything and give their full attention and time for him, to stop everything and stop their relationship with others. But he doesn't want that. Like the cross example/story: you can't have a cross if you only have one part of the cross. The cross is made up of two things: one is you and god. The other is you and other people arround you. Like a cross, you cannot just love your neighbours and not love god and you cannot love just god and not love others. It just doesn't work like that.

Share his love with everyone!

Love, the first fruit of the spirit!
This reminded me how great the retreat was. It was definitely support to my spiritual life, starting by loving one another.
God teaches us how to love, just as if we're pure, newborn babies.
Truthfully, what I haven't realized before the retreat is that loving other people reflects Jesus' character.
Once Jesus reflects his father's own light, our bodies follow in his path.
By putting each and everyone of us first.
I pray for patience towards my enemies, the heart to forgive them and to love them.

Speaking of television CTV did come to our school today as Christine said because of the teacher's cut in pay or something like that. we were supposed to be out there "Protesting" because everything got cancelled like extra ciricular activities.
Anyways...

verse 37-39
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

I remember Paster Kyle preached about this and Dan talked about this. How the first two commandements are the MOST important and if you follow these the rest should follow up. We have heard these verses many times from pastors so i dont what else to say.
Something i know for sure is that if we try to follow the first two commandements it will help us follow all ten commandments. Love the Lord with everything you got and treat others as yourselves. You wouldnt kill yourself would u? steal? If we Love God with everything we will keep the Sabbath holy and it goes on and on.

All i got and i hope that you guys are doing well in school =) i hate physics soo hard doesnt makes sense...

I have no school tomorrow! Smile Smile
I feel like today's devo is sort of related to yesterday's devo. The main theme being "Love" and all...
There is this Broadway Musical called "Carnival", and it's quite interesting actually. But I know none of you guys are interested in Broadway, so just ignore my peculiar obsession with theatre.
Anyway, as I was saying there is a musical called Carnival. In this musical there is a song called "Love makes the world go round". Then there is also the quote that says "It's love that makes the world go round! God is love and he also controls all the Earth, therefore it really is "love that makes the world go round!"
If we try to imitate God's love, not only will everything be a lot more peaceful, we are also influencing people in a holy way and following God's rules.

I'm reading this over, and it makes NO sense whatsoever xD Well I tried...
Night guys!

Today's whole reading revolved around love!
Two things came to mind as i was reading!
A verse I read long ago, something about Faith, Hope, and Love. And out of these 3, Love being the greatest.
Secondly, it was really All for love, that Jesus did everything he did. Died for us, preached for us, all because of love.
It's so touching that something as simply viewed "Love" is nowadays, had done such great things for us in our lives
and for everything else to come. Because of Love, jesus had guaranteed us a life of everlasting love.
It all started and ends with love
